Starring: Asia’s best skateboarders.

Where: Ngee Ann City, Orchard Road, Singapore

When: 12–6pm, Saturday 27 August

Singapore will play host to 32 of the regions most select skateboarders this August, in the inaugural Billabong City Squared Asia skateboarding invitational. The event, presented by Sony Ericsson, will take place at Ngee Ann City, Orchard Road, one of the busiest shopping precincts in the Southern Hemisphere. Top skateboarders from over eight countries Asia wide will battle it out on a purpose built rail, ledge and stair set-up for their part of a USD $20,000 prize pool.

There’s high anticipation around the August 27th event, as it will be the first time an Asia-based skate event has seen such a significant cash prize, coupled with a venue that has such high foot traffic. “There’s such an amazing talent pool of skaters in this region”, stated Billabong Brand Manager Peter Thew “On this type of obstacle, at this venue, with this kind of money… these guys are going to be going big!"

Larger than anything built before it, the skate obstacle will be set on an elevated platform, with the skaters progressing through the elimination concept competition based on their ability to consistently land high difficulty skateboarding maneuvers. The Billabong City Squared Asia champion will walk away USD $10,000 richer with second, third, and fourth places of USD $6,000, USD $3,000, and USD $1,000 being awarded respectively. Also up for grabs for the skater who pulls off the best trick during the course of the entire event is a one of a kind Nixon 51-30 watch made specially for this event. The City Squared Asia will be co-hosted by Aussie skate legend Cameron “Sparx” Sparks and MTV VJ Utt.

The Billabong City Squared Asia is proudly presented by Sony Ericsson and supported by Air Asia, Nixon, and Vitamin Water.

Skating begins at 2pm. Finals will commence at around 4pm. Spectators are urged to grab positions from 12-noon. Giveaways will be made available to the crowd.

How To 5-0 Grind !

Okay, in this post I will tell you about how to perform 5-0 Grind.

A 5-0 grind is like the 50-50 grind but instead of both trucks sticking on the ledge, you just stick the back one, so it’s basically like a manual grind. You’ll definitely want to know how to 50-50 grind before learning the 5-0 grind.

Okay,Check this out!

1. Find a good sized ledge, rail or curb to practice on. Make sure it's not too high and the surface is smooth enough approach your target, with your feet set up in an ollie position. You should approach at no more than a 45 degree angle at a moderate speed.

2. Be sure to keep your eyes on the target, and know exactly where you want to jump onto.

3. Pop your board into a clean ollie and shift your weight to your back foot. As you land, only your back truck should be touching the object you're grinding on.

4. Bend your knees slightly as you land on to your target and stay balanced throughout the 5-0 grind.

5. When you want to get off, you can do one of two things. You can either lift your nose slightly and pivot off, or you can ollie off. You should definitely learn the pivot off first before trying the ollie off.

6. Land, absorb the impact by bending your knees, and ride away.

In this post I will explain about POP SHOVE IT trick.

Oke, Check This Out !

The POP SHOVE IT is just a shuvit combined with an ollie, so the board spins 180 in the air.

1. Put your feet just like an ollie, but have your back foot more in the toe side pocket of the tail, the place where you start the shuvit with your back foot. Your front foot is just like for an ollie, but the heel is hanging off a bit more.

2. Bend your knees, not that much at first, but just enough to jump.

3. Scoop the tail just like for a shuvit, but a bit harder so the tail smacks the ground, giving a popping sound, while jumping, go forward and the way the board is spinning, this is so you can keep up with the board. This should cause the board to spin 180 in the air.
